Serving Size: 4 sandwiches

Ingredients:

- 4 slices of rye bread
- 4 slices of ham
- 4 slices of cheese (e.g., Emmental or Cheddar)
- 1 ripe tomato, sliced
- 1 avocado, sliced (optional)
- Butter for frying
- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter.
2. Place one slice of bread in the skillet and layer on 1 slice of ham, 1 slice of cheese, and if desired, slices of tomato and avocado.
3. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Top with another slice of bread and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
5. Repeat the process with the remaining slices of bread.
6. Cut the sandwiches in half and serve warm.
