Hungarian Noodles

A delicious dessert reminiscent of Italian gnocchi, these Hungarian noodles are made from potatoes and often enjoyed with sugar, cinnamon, or jam. This recipe is a perfect treat for both children and adults!Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 4-6
Ingredients:
- About 6 starchy potatoes
- 2-3 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon rolled oats
- 1 egg
- A pinch of salt
- Oil for frying
- 1.5 dl breadcrumbs (freshly grated from dry bread)
- Sugar (and cinnamon) or jam for serving
Instructions:
1. Grate the dry bread to make breadcrumbs.
2. Boil the potatoes with the skins on, then peel them while hot.
3. Mash the potatoes and let them cool slightly.
4. Mix the salt with the flour. Add the egg and combine it into the dough.
5. Gradually add the flour while kneading until a dough-like mass forms.
6. Shape the dough into a long roll and cut it into thin strips.
7. Cut the strips into small pieces and roll them into elongated shapes between your hands (you can add flour to your hands).
8. Cook the noodles in boiling water until they float to the surface.
9. Heat oil in a pan and add the breadcrumbs, toasting until golden brown.
10. Add the cooked noodles to the pan and stir-fry until well combined.
11. Serve the noodles with sugar, cinnamon, or jam.
