Romantic heart-shaped doughnuts filled with delicious strawberry jam and quark. A perfect dessert for May Day celebrations! Preparation Time: 1 hour + rising
Serving Size: 12 pieces
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour - 25 g fresh yeast
- 200 ml milk
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 2 eggs
- 50 g butter (melted)
- 100 g strawberry jam
- 200 g quark
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- Oil (for frying)
Instructions:
1. Dissolve the yeast in warm milk and add sugar. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes.2. In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and cardamom. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter.
3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
4. Roll the dough out to about 1 cm thick and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
5. Let the heart-shaped dough pieces rise for another 30 minutes.
6. Heat oil in a pot and fry the doughnuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
7. Prepare the filling by mixing the strawberry jam and quark together.
8. Fill the cooled doughnuts with the strawberry jam-quark mixture.
9. Brush the doughnuts with egg before serving, if you want them to have a shiny finish.
