This delicious and soft bread cheese is a perfect addition to your daily meals. Enjoy it warm on a slice of bread or on its own. Preparation Time: 2-3 hours (including cheese making and cooling)
Serving Size: About 4-6 servings
Ingredients
- 2 liters of milk (lactose-free or regular) - 1 dl lemon juice or vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp butter (optional)
- 1/2 tsp cumin or other spices (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it starts to steam, but do not let it boil. 2. Gradually add the lemon juice or vinegar to the milk while stirring continuously. The curds will begin to separate from the whey.
3. Continue stirring for about 5-10 minutes until the cheese and whey are clearly separated.
4. Pour the mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to drain the whey. Rinse the cheese under cold water.
5. Add salt and mix well. If desired, you can also add butter and spices.
6. Shape the cheese into your preferred form and place it in the refrigerator to cool for about an hour.
7. Serve the bread cheese warm or cold on a slice of bread or on its own.
