This classic French dessert features caramelized apples atop a buttery pastry, served warm for a delightful treat.
Ingredients:
- 3½ dl all-purpose flour
- 50 g margarine (room temperature)
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 1½ dl sugar
- 6-8 tart apples
- 2 egg yolks
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix the flour and margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
2. Add cold water and mix until a dough forms. Shape the dough into a ball and refrigerate for about 20 minutes.
3. Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut them into quarters or desired sizes.
4. Heat the sugar in a skillet until it lightly caramelizes.
5. Add the apples to the skillet and cook them with the caramel until they soften slightly.
6. Roll out the dough and place it over the apple mixture, pressing down the edges.
7. Bake at 200 °C (400 °F) for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
8. Let it cool for a moment, then invert the tart onto a serving plate.
9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or cream.
