A rustic apple tart that is easy to make and full of flavor. A perfect fall treat! Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 125 g cold butter, diced
- 50 g sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 100 ml cold water
- 4-5 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 50 g sugar (for filling)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 egg (for brushing)
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix the flour, cold butter, sugar, and salt until crumbly.
2. Gradually add the cold water, mixing until a dough forms. Do not over-knead.
3. Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
4. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
5. Roll out the chilled dough on parchment paper into a circle about 3-4 mm thick.
6. In a bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
7. Place the apple mixture in the center of the dough, leaving about 5 cm of space around the edges.
8. Fold the edges of the dough over the apple filling, creating a rustic shape.
9. Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg.
10. Bake the galette in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.
11. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
