A delicious homemade apple jam perfect for spreading on toast or using in desserts. Preparation Time: 3 hours
Serving Size: Makes approximately 10 jars
Ingredients:
- 8 liters of peeled, quartered domestic apples
- 5 dl water
- 1 kg sugar
- 0.5 kg brown sugar
Instructions:
1. Cut the apples into quarters and remove the cores. If you leave the skins on, chop the apples into smaller pieces.
2. Place the apple quarters and water in a large pot and cook for about 15 minutes.
3. Blend the apples into a smooth puree.
4. Add both sugars and mix thoroughly into the apple puree.
5. Pour the sweetened puree back into the pot and bake in the oven at 225°C (437°F) for 2.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
6. Continue baking for another hour at 100°C (212°F). If the puree is still too runny, bake for an additional hour.
7. Jar the apple jam immediately after removing it from the oven.
