A delicate and flavorful mushroom and reindeer pie, perfect for lunch or a light dinner. Serve warm with a green salad. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 pre-made pie crust - 300 g mushrooms (e.g., button mushrooms or chanterelles)
- 200 g reindeer meat (e.g., reindeer fillet or sausage)
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 3 dl cream
- 3 eggs
- 1 dl grated cheese (e.g., Emmental or mozzarella)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley or thyme) for garnish
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (390 degrees Fahrenheit). 2. Peel and chop the onion and garlic. Sauté them in oil in a pan until soft.
3. Add the chopped mushrooms to the pan and cook until the moisture has evaporated. Then add the reindeer meat and cook for a few more minutes.
4. In a bowl, whisk together the cream, eggs, salt, and pepper. Stir in the mushroom mixture and grated cheese.
5. Pour the mixture into the pie crust and smooth the top.
6. Bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes until the top is beautifully golden brown.
7. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve with a green salad.
