A delicious Finnish reindeer pie filled with unique northern flavors. The bread cheese gives a wonderful base without overpowering the distinct taste of the cold-smoked reindeer meat. Perfect for serving to foreign guests. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 200 g pie crust dough
- 300 g cold-smoked reindeer meat
- 200 g bread cheese
- 1 dl cream
- 2 eggs
- 1 dl onion (finely chopped)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (e.g., thyme or parsley)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
2. Roll out the pie crust dough and line a pie dish with it.
3. Spread the chopped onion evenly over the crust.
4. Slice the cold-smoked reindeer meat and arrange the slices on top of the onion.
5. Crumble the bread cheese evenly over the filling.
6. In a bowl, mix the cream and eggs, seasoning with salt and pepper.
7. Pour the egg mixture over the pie.
8. Bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes until the pie is golden brown.
9. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs.
