These delightful Finnish cinnamon rolls are soft, sweet, and filled with a buttery cinnamon mixture, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients:
- 2.5 dl milk
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 egg
- 1 dl melted butter
- 8-9 dl all-purpose flour
- Filling:
- 100 g room temperature butter
- 1 dl sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- Topping:
- 1 egg
- A pinch of sugar
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until it’s lukewarm and dissolve the crumbled yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, cardamom, egg, and melted butter. Mix well.
3. Gradually add flour to the mixture until the dough is elastic and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour.
5. Roll the risen dough into a rectangle about 1 cm thick.
6. Spread the room temperature butter, sugar, and cinnamon over the dough.
7. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into slices about 2-3 cm thick.
8. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
9. Brush the rolls with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
10. Bake at 225°C (437°F) for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
11. Let cool slightly before serving and enjoy!
