These delicious korvapuustit are a perfect addition to your table, especially to celebrate International Cinnamon Bun Day. Enjoy fresh buns with milk or cocoa!
Preparation Time: 1 hour + rising times
Serving Size: About 12-15 buns
Ingredients:
- 5 dl milk
- 50 g fresh yeast
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 dl melted butter or margarine
- Approximately 12-13 dl all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 dl sugar (for filling)
- 1 egg (for brushing)
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk to body temperature and dissolve the crumbled yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, ground cardamom, and melted butter. Mix well.
3. Gradually add all-purpose flour until the dough is soft and pulls away from your hands.
4. Let the dough rise under a cloth for about 30-40 minutes, until it has doubled in size.
5. Roll out the dough into a flat sheet and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top.
6. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 2-3 cm thick pieces.
7. Place the pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 20-30 minutes.
8. Brush the buns with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 225°C (437°F) for about 10-15 minutes, until they are beautifully golden brown.
9. Allow to cool before serving.
