A hearty and flavorful venison or moose stew, perfect for warming up on a chilly day.
Preparation time: 2 hours 30 minutes
Serving size: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 500 g venison or moose meat
- 1/2 dl oil
- 2 l water
- 1 tsp salt
- 5 cloves garlic
- 5 onions
- 4 carrots
- 2 potatoes
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1 dl red wine (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cut the venison or moose meat into cubes.
2. Heat the oil in a large pot and brown the meat cubes well.
3. Add minced garlic, chopped onions, and diced carrots. Sauté for a few minutes.
4. Pour in the water and add salt, bay leaves, black pepper, and paprika powder. Bring to a boil.
5. Simmer on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours until the meat is tender.
6. Add diced potatoes and continue cooking for another 20-30 minutes until the potatoes are cooked through.
7. Serve the gulassi warm, and if desired, add red wine before serving.
