Ingredients:
- 800 g beef (e.g., chuck or shank)- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 onions
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp paprika powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2-3 potatoes
- 2 carrots
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 liter beef broth
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces.2. Sauté chopped onions and garlic in oil in a large pot.
3. Add the beef to the pot and brown it on all sides.
4. Stir in the paprika, salt, black pepper, cumin, and chili powder.
5. Add diced potatoes, carrots, and bell pepper.
6. Pour the beef broth over the mixture and add the bay leaf.
7. Let the gulyás simmer on low heat for about 1.5 hours until the meat is tender and the vegetables are soft.
8. Serve the gulyás with fresh bread or mashed potatoes.
