A hearty Finnish reindeer stew, perfect for a cozy dinner. Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 2 hours
Serving size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 800 g reindeer meat
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 onions
- 3 garlic cloves
- 4 potatoes
- 3 carrots
- 1 dl red wine
- 5 dl beef broth
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Heat the oil in a large pot and brown the reindeer meat on all sides.
2. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, sauté for a moment.
3. Peel and chop the potatoes and carrots, then add them to the pot.
4. Pour in the red wine and beef broth, then add the bay leaves and thyme.
5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Cover the pot with a lid and place it in the oven at 160°C (320°F) for about 2 hours, until the meat is tender.
7. Serve warm, ideally with fresh bread.
