A delicious and trendy Vietnamese pho soup, perfect for quick weeknight meals or an elaborate homemade broth experience. Preparation Time: 30 minutes (quick version) / 6 hours (pro version)
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 200 g rice noodles
- 1 liter chicken broth or beef broth
- 200 g beef (e.g., sirloin or brisket)
- 1 onion
- 3-4 slices of ginger
- 2-3 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander
- Fresh mint
- Lime
- Chili
- Spring onion
Instructions:
1. Cook the rice noodles according to the package instructions and drain them.
2. Heat the chicken or beef broth in a pot. Add chopped onion, ginger, star anise, cinnamon stick, fish sauce, and sugar. Simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes.
3. Slice the beef into thin pieces. For the pro version, you can cook the meat in the broth for a longer time.
4. Strain the broth and return it to the pot. Season with salt to taste.
5. Place the rice noodles in bowls and add the sliced beef on top.
6. Pour the hot broth over the noodles and beef.
7. Garnish with fresh herbs, lime wedges, chili, and spring onion.
