Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 300 g pasta (e.g., spaghetti or penne)
- 150 g bacon, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 400 g canned tomatoes
- 1-2 fresh chilies, chopped (to taste)
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh basil for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions in salted water. Drain, reserving some pasta water.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook until crispy.
3. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is soft.
4. Stir in the chopped chilies and mix well.
5. Pour the canned tomatoes into the skillet. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
6. Mix the cooked pasta into the sauce. If needed, add a bit of reserved pasta water to achieve a desired sauce consistency.
7. Serve the pasta topped with fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
