Ingredients:
- 400 g pasta (e.g., spaghetti or penne)- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 400 g crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 100 g fresh basil leaves
- Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions in salted water. Drain the pasta and reserve a bit of the cooking water.2. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until the onion is soft.
3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Allow the sauce to simmer on low heat for about 5-10 minutes.
4. Mix the cooked pasta into the sauce. If needed, add a little reserved cooking water to moisten the pasta.
5. Toss in the fresh basil leaves and serve the dishes with Parmesan cheese on top.
