Delicious, eggless and yeast-free sweet treats perfect for celebrations or as a gift. These fritters are soft, sweet, and glazed with a delightful syrup.
Preparation Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Serving Size: 12 pieces

Ingredients:

- 3.8 dl all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 6 tbsp plain yogurt
- 3 dl sugar
- 1.5 dl water
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- Crushed pistachios or toasted coconut flakes (for garnish)
- Oil for frying

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and ground cardamom.
2. Add the melted butter to the flour mixture and mix until crumbly.
3. Incorporate the yogurt into the dough until it forms a ball. Avoid overmixing.
4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for 45 minutes.
5. Divide the dough into 12 pieces, shape them into balls, flatten slightly, and make an indentation in the center with your finger.
6. Heat oil in a deep pan to about 3-4 cm deep.
7. Fry the fritters on medium heat until golden brown and flaky, about 2-4 minutes per side.
8. Remove the fried fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels.
9. For the syrup, boil sugar, water, and lemon juice until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
10. Let the fritters soak in the syrup for half an hour.
11. Remove the fritters from the syrup and place them on a serving plate. Sprinkle with crushed pistachios or toasted coconut flakes.
