Delicious apple cinnamon rolls perfect for autumn indulgence. Filled with sweet apples and flavored with cinnamon, topped with almond slices and white chocolate. Preparation Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Serving Size: 16 rolls
Ingredients
*Dough:* - 2½ dl milk or water
- ½ packet of yeast
- ½ tablespoon cardamom
- ¾ dl sugar
- A pinch of salt
- Approximately 8 dl all-purpose flour
- 50 g melted or soft butter
*Filling:*
- 2 apples (sour variety)
- 25 g butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- ½ tablespoon lemon juice
*For brushing and decoration:*
- 1 egg
- Almond slices
- Approximately 30 g white chocolate
Instructions
1. Warm the milk or water to body temperature and crumble the yeast into the liquid. 2. Add sugar, cardamom, and salt.
3. Gradually knead in the flour, adding the soft butter towards the end. Knead until the dough is elastic, then let it rise for about half an hour.
4. Prepare the apple filling. Peel and dice the apples if necessary. Melt the butter in a pan. Add sugar, cinnamon, and apple pieces. Sauté the apples for about two minutes until the mixture starts to caramelize. Stir in the lemon juice and let it cool.
5. Turn the risen dough onto a floured surface and knead slightly. Roll it out into a rectangle (30 * 40 cm). Spread the apple filling on top.
6. Roll the dough with the filling into a log and cut it into 16 pieces. Place the slices on two baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
7. Let rise for 15-20 minutes.
8. Brush with egg and sprinkle with almond slices. Bake at 225°C (437°F) for about 12 minutes.
9. Once cooled, decorate the rolls with melted white chocolate. Melt the white chocolate in a water bath in a small freezer bag, cut a tiny corner of the bag, and drizzle the chocolate over the rolls.
