Delicious churros flavored with orange and cardamom, perfect for any time of day. Easy to make and offer a delightful taste experience reminiscent of Latin culture. Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 dl water - 75 g butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 dl all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
- Oil for frying
- Sugar and cinnamon for coating
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, bring water, butter, sugar, and salt to a boil.2. Add the flour to the mixture and stir well. Cook the dough over low heat for about 2-3 minutes until it pulls away from the sides of the pan.
3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the dough cool slightly.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
5. Stir in the orange zest and cardamom until the mixture is smooth.
6. Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer.
7. Place the dough in a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
8. Squeeze the dough into the hot oil in your desired lengths and fry until golden brown.
9. Remove the churros and drain on paper towels, then roll them in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
