A delicious ham and cheese layered cake, a fresh and exciting alternative to traditional sandwich cakes. Inspired by the naked cake style, it's packed with flavor. Preparation Time: 2 hours + chilling in the fridge
Serving Size: 8-10
Ingredients:
- Bread:
- 1.5 packets (approx. 400g) crusty bread
- 12 slices of large wheat sandwich bread
- Ham Filling:
- 200g garlic cream cheese
- 100g finely chopped smoked ham
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
- 100g sour cream
- 1/2 dl finely chopped green onion
- Sun-Dried Tomato Filling:
- 200g sun-dried tomato cream cheese
- 100g finely chopped smoked ham
- 100g sour cream
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 0.5 tsp balsamic vinegar
- pinch of chili powder
- Cream Cheese Mustard Filling:
- 400g chive cream cheese
- 1.5 dl American-style relish
- 1 dl crème fraîche
- 1 dl finely chopped fresh parsley
- 0.5 dl finely chopped cucumber
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 0.5 tbsp lemon juice
- For Moistening:
- approx. 2 dl beef broth
- For Garnishing:
- approx. 100g ham
- chives/spring onions/edible flowers
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Fillings:
- Ham Filling: Mix all ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate.
- Sun-Dried Tomato Filling: Mix all ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate.
- Cream Cheese Mustard Filling: Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate.
2. Chop the Bread:
- Chop the crusty bread in a food processor until crumbly. Add a splash of vegetable broth, but be careful not to overmoisten.
- Do the same for the sandwich bread, but without adding moisture.
3. Layer the Cake:
- Place half of the crusty bread crumbs at the bottom of a cake pan.
- Spread about 3/4 of the ham filling, sprinkle half of the sandwich bread crumbs on top, and lightly moisten with beef broth.
- Spread about 3/4 of the sun-dried tomato filling.
- Sprinkle the remaining crusty bread crumbs on top.
- Spread about 3/4 of the cream cheese mustard filling and sprinkle the remaining sandwich bread crumbs. Lightly moisten again.
- Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate, preferably overnight.
4. Garnish and Serve:
- Carefully remove the cake from the pan and garnish with ham, chives, and edible flowers.
