Ingredients:
- 2 large red onions
- 1 cup white wine vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar

- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 bay leaf (optional)
- 1 teaspoon oregano (optional)
Instructions:
1. Peel and slice the red onions into thin rings.
2. In a saucepan, bring the white wine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, black pepper, bay leaf, and oregano to a boil. Stir until the sugar and salt dissolve.
3. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the onion rings to the hot liquid, ensuring they are submerged.
4. Let the onions marinate at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. For a stronger flavor, refrigerate and allow them to marinate longer, even overnight.
