Gingerbread Cookies (Piparit)

Preparation Time: 2 hours 30 minutes (including chilling time) Serving Size: About 30 cookies
Ingredients:
- 200 g butter
- 2 dl sugar
- 1 dl syrup
- 1 dl cream
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 tsp salt
- 7 dl all-purpose flour
Instructions:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the sugar and syrup. Heat the mixture until the sugar dissolves.
2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the cream. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
3. In a bowl, mix the baking soda, spices, and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
4. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
5. Roll out the dough to about 0.5 cm thick and cut into desired shapes.
6. Bake the cookies at 180°C (350°F) for about 8-10 minutes, until they are golden brown.
7. Allow to cool, and decorate as desired. Enjoy your delicious gingerbread cookies!
