Preparation Time: 2 hours (including rising time)
Serving Size: 12 rolls

Ingredients

- Dough:
- 1 cup lukewarm milk
- 0.9 oz fresh yeast
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 large egg
- 4¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup soft butter
- Almost 1 tsp salt
- Filling:
- Plum jam
- For greasing the tin:
- Soft butter
- For topping:
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- Powdered sugar (for finishing)

Instructions

1. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm milk. Add sugar and egg, and whisk the ingredients together.
2. Stir in the cardamom and most of the flour, kneading the dough for about 5 minutes.
3. Add the soft butter and salt, continuing to knead for a few more minutes. Incorporate the remaining flour until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky.
4. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest in a bowl for about 30 minutes.
5. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle (approximately 20 x 16 inches) and roll it to a few millimeters thick.
6. Spread ⅔ of the plum jam evenly over the dough.
7. Fold the dough into thirds, ensuring that the layer with jam is on top.
8. Trim the ends of the dough and cut it into 12 equal strips.
9. Grease a muffin tin with butter. Cut each strip into three pieces, keeping one end attached.
10. Twist each strip into a roll and place it in the muffin tin.
11. Let the rolls rise in a warm place, covered with a cloth, for about 45-60 minutes.
12. Brush the rolls with beaten egg before baking.
13. Bake at 410°F (210°C) for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.
14. Dust the cooled rolls with powdered sugar before serving.
