A delightful Swedish semmel cake perfect for winter celebrations. This recipe makes enough to share with friends and family!
Preparation Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Serving Size: 8-10

Ingredients:

- 25 g fresh yeast
- 2.5 dl whole milk
- 7-8 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp cardamom
- A pinch of salt
- 1 dl sugar
- 2 tbsp room temperature butter
- Butter for greasing the pan
- 2-3 dl heavy cream
- Organic strawberry jam
- Powdered sugar for decoration

Instructions:

1. Crumble the yeast into lukewarm milk and mix well.
2. Add the egg, sugar, cardamom, salt, and about half of the flour. Mix until smooth.
3. Gradually add the remaining flour and knead the dough until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Let it rise covered in a draft-free place for about 45 minutes.
4. Shape the dough into a ball and line a 24 cm springform pan with parchment paper, greasing the sides with butter.
5. Flatten the dough ball to fit the bottom of the pan and cut it into eight pieces. Let it rise covered for another 30 minutes.
6. Brush with egg and bake in the lower part of the oven at 230°C (450°F) for about 20 minutes. Cool completely.
7. Cut the cake into eight pieces and remove the tops. Hollow out a bit of the cake from each piece.
8. Fill the hollow with strawberry jam and pipe or spread whipped cream inside each piece.
9. Finish the cake with powdered sugar and serve.
