A delicious blend of traditional Finnish sweet buns and innovative fillings, perfect for a winter treat. Preparation Time: 1 hour + rising
Serving Size: 12 buns
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour - 2 dl milk
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 75 g sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 75 g butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 200 g almond paste
- 2 dl whipped cream
- Powdered sugar for decoration
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the crumbled yeast in it. 2. Add sugar, salt, and the egg. Mix well.
3. Gradually add the flour and knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic.
4. Incorporate the softened butter into the dough and knead for another 10 minutes.
5. Allow the dough to rise under a cloth in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
6. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and shape them into buns. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
7. Let the buns rise again for about 30 minutes.
8. Bake the buns at 200°C for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool.
9. Cut the cooled buns in half and fill them with almond paste and whipped cream.
10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
