A refreshing German-style Kölsch beer brewed at home.
Preparation Time: 3-4 weeks (including fermentation)
Serving Size: Makes approximately 10 bottles
Ingredients:
- 1 liter of water
- 0.5 kg of malted barley
- 0.1 kg of hops
- 1 packet of brewing yeast
- 0.5 kg of sugar (optional)
Instructions:
1. Heat the water in a pot to about 65-70 degrees Celsius.
2. Add the malted barley to the water and stir well. Allow the mixture to steep for about 60 minutes.
3. Strain the liquid into a separate container and bring it to a boil.
4. Add the hops to the boiling liquid and cook for about 30 minutes.
5. Remove the pot from heat and let the liquid cool to about 20-25 degrees Celsius.
6. Add the yeast to the cooled liquid and mix well.
7. Cover the container and allow fermentation at room temperature for 1-2 weeks.
8. Transfer the beer into bottles and add sugar if desired. Let it mature in a cool place for a few weeks.
9. Serve chilled and enjoy your Kölsch beer!
