Ingredients

- 1.5 dl (150 ml) syrup
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 dl (100 g) sugar
- 125 g butter
- 1 egg
- 1.5 tsp baking soda
- 5-6 dl (500-600 g) all-purpose flour

Instructions

1. In a saucepan, bring the syrup, sugar, and spices to a boil.
2. Add the butter to the saucepan and stir until melted. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
3. Once cooled, add the egg and mix well.
4. In a separate bowl, combine the baking soda with the flour, then gradually add this to the dough until smooth.
5. Refrigerate the dough for at least one day.
6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
7. Bake the cookies at 175°C (350°F) for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Allow the cookies to cool before decorating.
