Ingredients:
- 1 liter red wine
- 200 ml water
- 100 g sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 5-6 whole cloves
- 3-4 cardamom pods
- 1 orange (sliced)
- 1 lemon (sliced)
- 100 ml rum or vodka (optional)
Instructions:
1. Pour the red wine into a pot and add the water.
2. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.
3. Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom pods, orange slices, and lemon slices.
4. Heat the mixture over low heat, making sure it does not boil.
5. Let the glögi steep for about 20 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
6. Strain the drink and add rum or vodka if desired.
7. Serve hot during a Christmas picnic or cozy evening gathering.
