A classic French warm sandwich filled with melted cheese, ham, and delicious béchamel sauce. Perfect for a weekend treat! Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:
- 1 ciabatta bread - 200 g sliced ham
- 200 g Gruyere cheese, grated
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 50 g butter
- 50 g all-purpose flour
- 500 ml milk
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Dried thyme
Instructions:
1. Prepare the béchamel sauce: Heat the milk in a saucepan until boiling. In another saucepan, melt the butter and add the flour. Cook the mixture for a couple of minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk. Let the sauce bubble for a few minutes and season with thyme, salt, and pepper.2. Prepare the bread: Slice the ciabatta bread in half lengthwise and trim a thin layer off the top. Spread Dijon mustard on the bottom half of the bread. Layer the ham slices and sprinkle the grated Gruyere cheese on top.
3. Assemble the sandwich: Place the top half of the bread back on. Toast the sandwich in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for a few minutes until the cheese melts and the top is crispy.
4. Add the sauce: Remove the sandwich from the oven and spoon béchamel sauce over the top. Sprinkle additional cheese on top.
5. Finish it off: Grill the sandwich under the broiler for about five minutes until the top is bubbly and crispy. If you don’t have a broiler, increase the oven temperature to 250°C (482°F).
6. Serving: Let it cool for a moment, cut into pieces, and serve with a cold beverage.
