Ingredients:
- 12 oz pasta (penne or spaghetti)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes.
5. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, mixing well until combined.
6. Add the chopped basil and season with salt and pepper. Stir until the sauce is heated through.
7. Toss the cooked pasta with the creamy tomato sauce until evenly coated.
8. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and additional basil if desired.
