Ingredients:
- 12 ounces spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions:
1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
3. Add the diced tomatoes (with juices) to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
4. Stir in the cooked spaghetti and chopped basil, tossing to combine and heat through.
5. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
