Classic Tomato Basil Pasta

Recipe:
- 200g spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 400g canned diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
3. Add the canned diced tomatoes and sugar to the skillet. Stir well and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Toss the cooked spaghetti into the skillet, mixing it well with the sauce.
6. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped basil.
7. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
