Ingredients:
- 12 ounces spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions:
1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
3. Add the diced tomatoes (with juices) and sugar to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Stir in the fresh basil and cook for another 2 minutes.
5. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
6. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
