Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 liter red wine - 200 ml apple juice
- 200 ml water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3-4 cloves
- 2 star anise
- 1 orange (sliced)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 100 ml brandy or rum (optional)
- Nuts and dried fruits for serving
Instructions:
1. Pour the red wine, apple juice, and water into a pot. 2. Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise, and orange slices.
3. Heat the mixture over low heat until it starts to steam, but do not let it boil.
4. Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves.
5. Let the mulled wine simmer for about 10 minutes to develop the flavors.
6. If desired, add the brandy or rum just before serving.
7. Strain the glögi into glasses and serve with nuts and dried fruits.
