Delicious churros served with a rich chocolate sauce. This Spanish treat is perfect for breakfast or dessert. Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 4
Ingredients:
- 250 ml water
- 50 g butter
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 150 g all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla sugar
- Oil for frying
Chocolate Sauce:
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 250 ml milk
- 1 tbsp sugar (to taste)
- 1/2 tsp cornstarch (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, heat the water, butter, sugar, and salt until boiling. Remove from heat.
2. Immediately add the flour and stir well until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
3. Allow the dough to cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and shiny.
4. Heat oil in a deep pan to about 180°C (350°F).
5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe the dough into churros of your desired length and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
6. Remove the churros and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
7. For the chocolate sauce: melt the chocolate in a saucepan and stir in the milk over low heat until smooth. Add sugar and cornstarch if using.
8. Serve the churros warm with the chocolate sauce.
