Description: Joululeipä is a traditional Finnish Christmas bread made with orange juice, malt, and spices, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients:
- 5 dl orange juice - 3 dl malted barley
- 1 dl brown sugar
- 1 dl rye flour
- 5 dl wheat flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 packet dry yeast
- Anise and fennel seeds (to taste)
Instructions:
1. Warm the orange juice to body temperature. 2. In a bowl, mix the malted barley, brown sugar, rye flour, and salt.
3. Add the warmed orange juice and dry yeast to the mixture. Stir well.
4. Gradually add the wheat flour and mix until the dough is smooth.
5. If desired, add anise and fennel seeds to the dough.
6. Pour the dough into a greased loaf pan.
7. Bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 45-60 minutes or until the bread is cooked through.
8. Allow to cool before serving.
