A festive dry cake that combines sweet figs and spices, perfect for enjoying during the Christmas season. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 8-10 slices
Ingredients:
- 200 g dried figs- 100 g butter
- 1 dl sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 dl milk
- 50 g nuts (e.g., walnuts)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a cake pan.2. Chop the dried figs and nuts into small pieces.
3. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
4. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt) and gradually add to the batter, alternating with the milk.
5. Gently fold in the chopped figs and nuts into the batter.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
7. Bake in the oven for about 45-50 minutes, until the cake is cooked through and golden brown. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
8. Allow the cake to cool before serving.
