A delicious vegan Christmas ham made from seitan or tofu, perfect for your holiday table. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Servings: 6-8
Ingredients:
- 250 g seitan flour - 200 ml water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 dl vegetable broth powder
- 100 g mushrooms (e.g., button mushrooms), chopped
- 1 dl pulled oats
- 2 tbsp tamarind paste or apple jam for glazing
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). 2. In a bowl, mix the seitan flour, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and vegetable broth powder.
3. Add water and olive oil to the dry mixture. Stir until a uniform dough forms.
4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until elastic.
5. Incorporate the chopped mushrooms and pulled oats into the dough and mix well.
6. Shape the dough into a ham-like piece and wrap it in parchment paper and aluminum foil.
7. Bake the ham in the oven for about 30-40 minutes.
8. Remove the ham from the oven and unwrap the foil. Brush the ham with tamarind paste or apple jam.
9. Bake the ham for an additional 10-15 minutes until the surface is beautifully golden brown.
10. Allow the ham to cool for a moment before slicing.
