A delicious and creamy addition to many desserts, perfect for pairing with berries, pies, or ice cream.
Preparation Time: Over 60 minutes
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 100 g sugar
- 250 ml water
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water and heat until the sugar completely dissolves.
2. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks until frothy.
3. Gradually add the boiling sugar water to the egg yolks while continuously whisking.
4. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and heat over low heat, whisking until the mixture thickens. Be careful not to let it boil.
5. Transfer the finished mixture to a bowl and continue whisking until it cools down.
6. Optionally, add the vanilla bean or vanilla extract and mix well.
