Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice
- 1 ½ cups water
- 1 onion
- 1 bell pepper
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Cook the rice according to package instructions.
2. Peel and chop the onion and garlic. Dice the bell pepper.
3. Heat oil in a frying pan and add the onion and garlic. Sauté until soft.
4. Add the bell pepper to the pan and cook for a few minutes.
5. Pour the crushed tomatoes into the pan and season with oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
6. Stir the cooked rice into the sauce and heat for a moment.
7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and broil in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden.
