Ingredients:
- 700 g beef or venison shoulder or chuck roast
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 potatoes (about 250 g each)
- 3-4 carrots
- 1 onion
- 4 dl beef broth
- 2-3 dl water
- 2-3 bay leaves
- Fresh herbs (e.g., thyme or rosemary)
Instructions:
1. Cut the meat into cubes and brown it in oil in a large pot.
2. Season the meat with salt and black pepper.
3. Peel and chop the potatoes, carrots, and onion. Add them to the pot.
4. Pour in the beef broth and enough water to cover the ingredients.
5. Add the bay leaves and fresh herbs.
6. Allow the stew to simmer on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours, until the meat is tender.
7. Serve the stew hot, ideally with fresh bread.
