Chocolate Date Cake

A delicious and moist cake that combines sweet dates with rich chocolate flavor, perfect for coffee breaks or dessert. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 10-12 pieces
Ingredients:
- 250 g dates- 2 dl water
- 200 g butter or margarine
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (not drinking chocolate)
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
- 2 dl sugar
- 4 dl all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 dl sour cream or yogurt
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, boil the dates, water, and butter/margarine together. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Allow to cool.2. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until fluffy.
3. Add the cooled date mixture to the egg and sugar mixture, and mix well.
4. In another bowl, combine the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, vanilla sugar) and then fold them into the date mixture.
5. Finally, add the sour cream or yogurt and mix until you have a smooth batter.
6. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (347°F) for about 30-40 minutes, or until the cake is cooked through (check with a skewer).
Let the cake cool before serving.
