A delicious and visually stunning pastry perfect for celebrations or coffee gatherings. Preparation Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Serving Size: 8-10 servings
Ingredients:
- 500g all-purpose flour - 2dl milk
- 25g fresh yeast
- 75g sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1dl butter (melted)
- 1 egg (for brushing)
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until it's lukewarm and dissolve the crumbled yeast in it. 2. Add sugar, salt, and cardamom. Mix well.
3. Gradually add the flour to the mixture and knead until the dough is smooth.
4. Add the melted butter and knead for a moment longer.
5. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it again.
7. Roll the dough into a long sheet and fold it into thirds.
8. Cut the sheet into strips and twist them into a wreath shape.
9. Place the wreath on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it rise for another 15-20 minutes.
10. Brush the wreath with the beaten egg and bake at 175°C (347°F) for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
11. Allow to cool before serving.
