Ingredients:
- Pizza Dough:
- 2 dl water
- about 35 g yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp oil
- 5 dl durum or wheat flour
- Tomato Sauce:
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 onion
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- salt
- black pepper
- herbs (e.g., oregano or basil)
- chili (to taste)
- a pinch of sugar
- Toppings:
- air-dried ham
- mozzarella cheese
- fresh tomatoes
- fresh basil
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix lukewarm water and yeast. Add salt and oil, and mix well.
2. Gradually add the flour and knead the dough until it is elastic. Let the dough rise under a cloth for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
3. Sauté chopped onions and garlic in oil in a pan. Add crushed tomatoes and seasonings, and let simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
4. Roll out the risen dough into a thin layer and place it on a greased baking sheet or pizza stone.
5. Sprinkle cheese on the base, spread the tomato sauce, and add your desired toppings.
6. Bake the pizza in a preheated oven at 220-250°C (428-482°F) for about 10-15 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and crispy. Use the broiler for the last few minutes if desired.
