Ingredients

- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ¾ cup milk
- 2 eggs
- ⅓ cup melted butter
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, cardamom, salt, and baking powder.
2. Add the milk, eggs, melted butter, and lemon zest to the dry ingredients. Mix until you have a smooth batter.
3. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (180°C).
4. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning them occasionally.
5. Once cooked, place the doughnuts on paper towels to drain excess oil.
6. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
