Pelmenit (Russian Dumplings)
recipe

Delicious Russian dumplings filled with various ingredients, traditionally made with bear meat but can be adapted with other types of meat.
Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: Approximately ½ kg of pelmenit

Ingredients:

- 4 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 dl water (or milk)
- 1 egg
- Salt
- Filling (e.g. canned bear meat, ground meat, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper)

Instructions:

1. Make the Dough: In a bowl, mix the flour, water, and egg. Knead the dough until smooth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
2. Roll Out the Dough: Roll the dough into a thin sheet and cut out circles with a diameter of about 5 cm using a glass or similar.
3. Prepare the Filling: If using canned meat, you can use it as is. Otherwise, sauté ground meat, onion, and garlic in a pan, seasoning with salt and pepper.
4. Fill the Dumplings: Moisten the edges of the dough circles with water. Place 1-2 teaspoons of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough into a half-moon shape and press the edges tightly to seal.
5. Cook the Dumplings: Bring salted water or game broth to a boil in a pot. Add the pelmenit and cook for about 10 minutes, or until they rise to the surface.
6. Serve: Serve the pelmenit with melted butter or sour cream. You can also make vodka sour cream by mixing sour cream with vodka, salt, and pepper.
