Peksupopparit - Sweet and Savory Bacon Popcorn Treats

Ingredients:
- 1.5 dl popcorn kernels
- 2 packs diced bacon (140 g each)
- 1 bag pecans (about 125 g)
- 50 g butter
- 3 dl sugar
- 1.5 dl maple syrup (or 1 dl water + 1 dl sugar)
- 1 dl glucose syrup
- 2 tbsp flaky sea salt (e.g., Maldon)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
2. Pop the popcorn according to the package instructions and spread it onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
3. Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy, then drain the excess fat on paper towels.
4. Sprinkle the crispy bacon and pecans over the popcorn.
5. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, maple syrup, and glucose syrup. Bring to a boil while stirring until the mixture reaches a light caramel or runny honey color. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and stir well.
6. Pour the caramel over the popcorn, nuts, and bacon, and mix thoroughly.
7. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes.
8. If desired, sprinkle additional flaky sea salt over the hot popcorn mixture and mix well to prevent sticking.
9. Allow to cool until it can be handled, then break apart the popcorn by hand.
10. Serve cooled and enjoy with a cold drink.
