recipe

A delicious Asian-inspired stir-fry featuring tender beef and fresh asparagus in a savory black bean sauce.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 4 servings

Ingredients:

- 0.5 kg beef (e.g., sirloin), sliced thinly
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon dry sherry
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon chili oil
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced thinly
- 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 60 ml black bean sauce

Instructions:

1. In a small bowl, combine the beef strips, soy sauce, cornstarch, sherry, ginger, and chili oil. Mix until the beef is evenly coated. Let it marinate.
2. Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the bell pepper, asparagus, and garlic. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until the asparagus is tender and bright green. Remove the vegetables from the pan and set aside.
3. Add the marinated beef to the pan and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned all over. Return the vegetables to the pan and stir in the black bean sauce. Add sauce gradually, tasting as you go.
4. Serve immediately with rice. Optionally, complement the meal with fortune cookies.
