A traditional winter drink full of flavor and warmth, perfect for holiday celebrations or cozy winter evenings. Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 4 egg yolks- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup cream
- 1/2 cup rum or whiskey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 4 egg whites (optional, whipped)
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.2. In a saucepan, heat the milk and cream over low heat until just about to boil.
3. Slowly add the hot milk mixture to the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly.
4. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and heat over low, stirring continuously until it thickens slightly.
5. Remove from heat and stir in the rum or whiskey, vanilla extract, and nutmeg.
6. If desired, whip the egg whites to stiff peaks and gently fold them into the eggnog.
7. Serve the drink warm or chilled, as preferred.
